CONTEXT
IKEA was looking to incorporate new sustainable display resources to highlight products related to conscious living in the home.
The goal was to design a modular system that would reflect its environmental commitment and could be easily replicated in other stores.

CHALLENGE
To develop a functional and aesthetic solution, using organic materials and low-impact processes, which also integrates the waste generated by the store.

THE SOLUTION
We designed a series of modular podiums made of solid beech wood and filled with our biomaterial CIBICO®created from natural ingredients and pigmented with leftover tea from the establishment’s own canteen.

Each module is made up of two frames assembled with magnets, which allows the pieces to be opened or closed to introduce interior light or facilitate their transport and reuse.
Laser engraving replaces the use of inks, generating messages and textures with an organic and durable visual language.

VALUE GENERATED

The project offered IKEA a circular, aesthetic and reproducible solution capable of connecting the sustainability of its products with the spatial communication of the brand.
An intervention that demonstrates how material design can amplify the message of sustainability without the need for words.
